TOT School Week Four

Thang One and Thang Two are 10 months old
Tot School

Thanks to my amazing photographer friend Sarah Holt (she is an awesome photographer in the Austin, Texas area, you should check her out) my pictures look better!

This week we worked with puzzles. Here they are playing with a Melissa and Doug sound puzzle. It took Two a little longer than One to get the hang of picking up the pieces, but once she did, she loved playing with this. They really can't put the pieces back in the puzzle right now, but they loved picking them up. And they loved the sound the puzzle made when I put them in for them.

We also played with this shape puzzle

I put some kitchen stuff in baskets for them to play with. They seemed to like looking through these. They love to put things in and out.

We have not started with TOT Trays yet, but I did rearrange our bookshelf to put some toys out for the girls and I will switch them out whenever they get tired of something. This week I had the puzzles we played with, stacking cups, and the baskets.

When we played with the stacking cups Thang One got it. I was so excited. One day she just picked them up and instead of banging them together or chewing on them, she started putting one cup in another one. Then I showed her how she could put those two cups in another one. Now when she plays with these she always tries to stack one into another one. I love watching her try to stack the bigger cups into smaller ones. I can just see the wheels turning in her pretty little head!

Thang One's new favorite game is to give people things so we have been working on the sign for thank you this week. She still doesn't do any signs, but Two has More down for sure!!

TOT School Week Three

Thang One and Thang Two are 10 months old
Tot School
I was lazy this week so we didn't do a lot of Tot School. We worked on putting colored lids into the wipes container. I got the idea for this activity here. The thangs did a pretty good job with this, they were able to push the lid down after I started it and they loved shaking it once it was in there. We will continue to work on this.

Thang One entertained us during lunch with a game of Peek-A-Boo. Her new favorite game. And I don't have a picture of this yet, but Two has learned to sign more on a consistent basis. She does it all the time during meals. That thang loves to eat!!!

TOT School Week Two

Thang One and Thang Two are 9 months old
Tot School

This week was ball week during TOT school. (Okay I can't type that without laughing-I know I'm juvenile!) First the Thangs played in a pool filled with balls. Thang Two really liked it. She would sit in the pool and kick and kick. I think she really liked the sound it made. Thang One was more interested in putting things like books, toys, and her bottle into the pool and pushing it around the cage. (We have blocked off our entire living room and we call it The Cage!)

Two kicking in the balls.

One pushing it around

I had lots of balls for them to explore. One really liked the way the dryer ball felt in her hand.
And much to Daddy Thang's delight Two likes the basketball. I've already told him with my sports ability there is NO hope for the girls.

We have this book and we listened to Roll The Ball and worked on rolling the ball and the sign for ball.
Baby Sing and Sign r: Communicate Early with Your Baby: Learning Signs the Fun Way Through Music and Play

We also read The Very Hungry Caterpillar this week. Doesn't really go with our ball theme but One was really fascinated with the holes in the book where the caterpillar eats through lots of different stuff.

And finally the Thangs loved playing Peek A Boo Barn on the iPhone.

Tot School Week One

Thang One and Thang Two are 9 months old
Tot School
This is our very first TOT School post! This week we worked on IN/OUT. The girls have these Montessori toys that my sister found and bought them for Christmas. Thang 1 and 2 are really beginning to love playing with these. They have always loved the rattle but they are really starting to love the wooden toys too! Here is Thang 1 (please excuse the PJs)

The girls also enjoyed playing with their Jack-N-The Box. Here Thang One is trying hard to turn the crank on the box. She needed my help, though.

Thang Two is checkin' it out. She loved it at first but then later in the day it scared her when we played with it. She would stick her little lip out and cry. So cute!

One of Thang Two's favorite things to do is to pull all the books off the bookshelf. I am hoping this means she really loves books!

The girls really enjoy this book my mom got them for Valentine's Day. It's a recordable book so she is reading it. They try really hard to figure out where Grandmommy is hiding!

They also enjoyed playing with these egg shakers. Not so much an IN/OUT activity, but fun for them!
